larger stereo

Hi, just wondered if anyone on here has a bigger stereo unit which fill's the space of the equaliser aswell. I was interested in installing "Apple car play" stereo, wasn't sure if this is easy to do? Or if any cutting was required? Was hoping it would fit straight in. Here's a picture of what I have at the moment, managed to find something similar to what I want to install. Thanks.

It is do-able - I've seen a couple of installs, some with greater success than others. The issue you face is that there's a metal beam across the console under the radio space.

You'll need to remove the console and cut this out - you'd also need to then find a way of securely mounting the double DIN cage in the hole. After all that, you may just find that the angle of the stereo is too steep and obstructed by the gearstick to see/use properly.

I'd try mocking it up in cardboard first to see whether it worth the hassle and then picking up a spare console to experiment on if you do go down that route.

I need that space for my EBC..much more important than music, turn the radio off, turn the engine sound up..best music to my ears.........only joking guys.....:)

Ok thanks for the advice, I was worried about cutting and doing anything which wasn't reversible but hadn't even thought about the angle which it goes in. I'll have to have a closer inspection.

many thanks, George

My EBC is where the radio was - I needed the cubby hole to fit my ego and rude personality in!
