Late screen in early car

Is this possible, or is the metalwork different? I need a replacement screen, and wondered if I might reduce wind noise if it were changed for the later type and associated seals.

Regards,

Tref.

i do believe they are the same size screens just on the 924 they are bonded and on the 44 held in by rubber surround there are differences in the chassis where the screen is , but the screen size the same ,,,, we have 3 windscreens in stock

How strange you should say such a thing.

924 and early 944's have windscreen number 477 845 011D fitted within a metal frame no 477 805 571 A or C

Later 944's have windscreen frame 944 502 911 01 and a choice of many different windscreens, all of which contain an antenna for the radio. Clear screens are listed as follows:-

-87 944 541 011 10
87- 944 541 021 04
88- 944 541 011 13

When I have had my screen replaced they bought two screens with them to ensure they had the right screen, but then had the wrong cover seal.

Later 944's are bonded in, as far as I am aware the early ones are held in with a rubber gasket in a deeper rebate. You only have to look at the two types of screen frame to see the difference.

And while I'm about it Porker9xx, having now demonstrated that you are talking twaddle, don't advertise on the forum.

On that last point I have already reported a previous post because of the avatar and to be honest I'm disappointed if not surprised to have neither heard anything nor seen the avatar removed. If we're going to come down on ne member hard for advertising then we have to come down on everyone equally hard.

To be fair the advice was laughable. Stevie Wonder told me he could see the screens aren't interchangeable and David Blunkett agreed when I mentioned it to him.

I have e-mailed this morning and asked him to change his avatar.

Totally totally wrong!

As John says - later screens are bonded. Early ones have a rubber surround.
Different screens as well
