Trying to organise next year's anniversary celebrations. Does anyone know the official launch date in the UK?

I know the year...[8|]

Interesting one -
The first test appeared to have been an AutoCar one on 29th May with the writer saying the launch was early May.
But I've now found a test from Peter Dron, editor of Fast lane, and he took delivery of his 9th of April '82.
So must have been just before that.

All info so far courtesy of the Porsche 944 Gold portfolio BTW.

Yet a further article says when car was introduced in May '82 price was £12,999!

All seem to agree on one thing though - The car was announced by Porsche in late '81.

Can't get any closer than that with what I have to hand.

Cheers

Thanks - if I didn't get a free evening to do the research I'd have gone for 1st August!

Looks as if the date may well tie in with Frontrunners. I expect all 1400 member's cars there...possibly we may need a larger burger van [&:]

My Pleasure, I'll keep an eye out for the front runners dates, I'd like to try and make at least one next year. Trouble is it's a 420 mile 7 hour round trip for us!
Just at the moment and for the foreseable future I'm also the only driver in the family!

I know it seems obvious, but surely a line to Porsche Cars GB in Reading would yeild the exact date, otherwise the club archive (old copies of Porsche Post around the time) would give the answer.

Or am I being too simplistic??????????????
