Le Mans 2006

Although it may seem a bit early has anyone put their name down for next year's trip? I didn't make this year's one, but did go in 2004. The only down side really was the high proportion of newer vehicles in the camp site and a correspondingly different type of cameraderie. The new site is a much better location and the quality of facilities appears to be on the up. Travel Destinations (01707 329988) are taking bookings now and appear to be half full already.
Any takers?

Ian

See you there Ian.

I plan to go for the soft option and book a B&B somewhere within a 50km radius of the circuit - I have somewhere cheap and cheerful in mind.

I am taking my son as an end of GCSE trip, so we may well camp, but unsure if there is a PCGB Club organised trip, or whether you have to do a DIY trip.

B&B sounds more like me though !

Am definitely going down to the Classic in '06, so if anyone wants to start getting a posse together for that am well up for it.

Want to book this month ideally just to be sure of a place.

John,

Do you know if PCGB do an organised trip, or do we need to get it together ourselves.

Sorry Ian - know this is not the LM you were refering to - should we move this to the general area ?

AFAIK, PCGB liaise with other clubs to sort the track passes and Porscher Parking etc, but as for the accom, there might be packages closer to the time but I'm not fussed about that end of things, would book something up with a few buddies now following Rich's line of thinking (why change the habit of a lifetime) [8D].

Have a few friends who have done this before so will pick their brains on SOP.

By all means start a new General thread if you feel like joining the coach party mate [;)]

I went this year in my old Vento :) old girl never missed a beat! Hopefully will be going next year in my new Porsche, quite possibly yours Highfield.

Im all booked for LeMans proper and am very intrested in LeMans Classic, shame they are so close together as I will have to wait till nearer the time to see if I can get another free weekend.

There is no way that management will let me go to both le Mans! I have not been to the Classic and could be swayed. I've been to the modern version five times over the years and have graduated to the full luxury of the PCGB trip for the last two. It is quite nice having your own loos, showers etc, but is not cheap. Is there anything organised with DDK or anyone else for the Classic?

Ian

Cheers John. Looks as though I'd better book accommodation now. I hope you have the Porsche hospitality tent again, and look forward to seeing you there!

Last classic I just got tickets thru Cdr Sloan who just facilitated getting them thru the French P Club. He put info in Porsche Post. Certainly in 04 there was nothing like the rush that regular LM24hrs produces. Its maybe 25% of the numbers and tickets get access to all areas including grandstands. Its very relaxed.

I will get details of "my" B&B and circulate.

Ian, your son would love it with the oldies, there is a good drive too and from the circuit each day and plenty of moderately bad behaviour.

Hi Martyn

It's July 7 to 9 inclusive, details are here. Our fellow French Porschiéres are already going nuts for it so it's book now or sleep in the car!

Cheers, JG [;)]
That's pants!!!!!

We have just had a discussion down the pub. and hubby has agreed to go "in principal" and now I find that it will be in term time anyway[:(]

Will just have to hope that the AvD is on at the 'ring next August instead.[8D]

BTW P&O ferries are realy cheap at the mo, £40.00 return.

But ONLY if you book through the French Club (via Cdr Sloan and the club - PCGB).
Normal tickets on the gate will not give you such access.

can't wait for the 'classic' [:D] 2004 was superb. I even met Mark Bennet on the ferry on the way back [;)]

The DDK will have a group going down. Just waiting for the PCGB to arrange the tickets as in 2004
