LE MANS 2007

I am planning a trip to Le mans for our region for 2007, at the minute it is undecided if we should go with the club or try and organise it between ourselves. I have never been before and am concious of not wanting to make a hash of it.

I would be grateful if anyone who has been before could offer advice on the best solution for this, whether from our region or not and let me know if you would be interested in taking part.

Any input is appreciated.

Le mans 2007 R3, it starts here.......

Nick,

A colleague of mine from work goes with his pals every other year, they stay in a rented farmhouse. I've seen the pics and it looks fine. I'll check out the availability and let you know, he's not going in 2007 so potentially it could be available.

Work permitting I should be able to make it on Wednesday night so can give you an update then. If not I'll give you a call.

Hi Nick,

I have been for the last few years on a self-organised trips.

For some great advice have a look and join www.beermountain.com its a great site for advice, fun and chat. Last year we had a major breakdown and were saved by fellow beermountain members !!!!

Its a great time, and one that is very hard to explain to a non-LeMans visitor, for us we always goto the same campsite ( Technopark ) its a little bit away from the track and has a very good atmosphere.

The main improvement last year was the shower, we spent many an hour making the 'ultimate' camping shower, it was self heated and powered by a boat water pump for that at-home feeling.

One of our members drove all the way from Switzerland to be with us and said he was amazed how great an atmosphere it was...

Oh and I think there is car racing toooooo !!!!!!

Other advice is to take a fridge, and make sure your windows are up if your coming into the track else you get a bit wet :-(

The ferry , I will admit our have been booked for the last 2 months to avoid the massive cost when the dates were anounced. For us we go Portsmouth - Le Harve with LD lines www.ldlines.co.uk although its overnight the driving at the other end is only about 2:30 hours, but that depends on whre you live I guess...

Most of all enjoy, there is plenty to see & do and the fireworks are amazing... Do take care with your money & keys and lock them in a safe place, not in your tent. It not that is very insafe but the odd thing does happen.

Here's a link to a quick video of our fun & some pics.

Have a great time and you always welcome to meet us for a beer or 2

I need to get numbers sorted ASAP as I have a good offer on the camping, at the minute costs would be as follows, give or take a couple of quid:[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Camping £99 per car for two people on a pitch 50sq meters[FONT=verdana, geneva"]Euro tunnel approx £55 each way per car[FONT=verdana, geneva"]Accommodation night before crossing (Travel lodge or something similar) £50 (if needed)[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Plus fuel.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Not that expensive if we have two per car.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]The dates would be leaving on Thursday the 14th June and return Monday 18th.[FONT=verdana,geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]The camping is going quick and this is the hardest of everything to sort, if you are interested get in touch ASAP.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Come on!! Lets do this!!![FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]

Been talking to a guy on Beermountain.com who has a site at Beausejour, he says its not far from the PCGB site!

Or Just Ticketes,

Spoke to them yesterday and there are some tickets left. Beausejour is quite close to the PCGB site, just a 5 min walk under the tunnel, its quite a large and busy site though. I have to say would not be my number 1 ....

We stay in the slighty further in TechnoPark. Its quite alot smaller and for the last 3 years had no problems. Is about 10 mins to the PCGB and 5 to the track.

£99 is for a pitch for the whole weekend, I thought that was cheap! Certainly cheaper than I expected, what is the norm for a pitch?

Prices are in the link I gave. That is from (if I recall) Wednesday through to Monday morning.

There is a small extra charge if you arrive Monday or Tuesday.

Beausejour pitches are normally still available by now. It's the furthest from the grandstands and "village" so is last to fill up with bookings.

Nick,

I really fancy this, just need to sort out holidays at work. I'm away from 14/5 to 5/6 so need to make sure I can get the time off when i get back. Will call you on Monday

Ashley

We are booked! 250 members in the northeast and we have the grand total of 4 cars going!!
