Just a quick post to say that Bob Lovelace and his team did a superb job and we were all made very welcome and everything was well organised.
My car did 845 miles there and back at an average of 25mpg and that includes a rapid run up from Portsmouth to home on Monday morning[]
It did use some oil, approx 1/3 litre, but under the circumstances (lots of motorway miles plus lots of sitting in Le Mans traffic in the heat) and at 135000 miles, I'm quite happy, to be honest. I know it really needs the valve stem seals doing, but at an average consumption of 1 litre every 3000 miles, I think I can live with it for now.
It ran like a dream and definitely feels smoother for its run. It is clearly running slightly rich, but that may be a side effect of the LR chips it is running.
The effort expended to get the air con working paid dividends when we got stuck in Alencon during the rush hour and then in the queues to get into Le Mans - the radiator fans kept on cutting in to keep the engine cool, meanwhile the driver and passenger were kept nice and cool[]
Despite the stiff Bilstein Cup suspension and the 3" downpipe and exhaust, it was also a relatively civilised long distance cruiser, although by the time we got to the campsite, I did begin to wonder if I was developing tinnitus...[8|][]
Great time was had by all!
