Anyone going to Le Mans this year? I went a couple of years ago with the Porsche Club and it was great fun.

Cheers
Mike

Hi Mike

I am going again this year I also went 2 years ago with my son, this year I'm going with Caroline and both my sons are also coming in Chris's Lotus, looking forward to it as we are then spending the rest of the week in Samur.
We are going to stop on the Lycian events site on the inside of the Porsche curves (same location as 2 yrs ago) if you decide to go we are going over on the 14th and could drive down together.

Geoff

Will be a first for me. Looks like my wife and I will be going with the R20 gang. Have been emailing today about it. Very much looking forward to it.

Cheers

Wife and I went last year, with Lycian at Village on the Curves, Highly recommended, look on www.beermountain.com for info. Hope it's warmer this year - we had one night where it was freezing, not much fun for herself getting to the loo at 3am! However, site organisation and facilities were superb. Thursday night qualifying is fantastic, Friday pit walk was fun, but get into town early for the parade - or you won't see a thing! Grandstand seat for Sat/Sun was well worthwhile for us Le Mans virgins.

I am planning on going this year. I went about 4/5 years ago and it was extremely hot and great fun.

Those people going for the first time: You may hear stories about the French police being very vigilant that weekend. Believe them! I found out the hard way. €800 fine for doing 70km/h on a 50km/h road. And you have to pay in cash too. They raise the fines specifically and I have the proof! Luckily my brother had the cash. There was a queue of 8 people being "processed". The biker behind me was stopped doing 150km/h on the same road but after they processed me they just shut the doors and left. It was lunch! You should have seen the biker's reaction!

Back to Le Mans - I don't think PCGB are doing anything this year are they? I noticed an ad in the last Porsche Post but that was an independent company.

Great event!

James

Not making it to the main event this year, but taking the father in law to the classic in July in his newly refurbed TR6, anyone else attending in July?

Upset to be missing the main event...definately the best sporting event in the world and worth a visit if you have never experienced it.

Hello Geoff,

I've just taken a look at my original post, and noticed my response to your kind offer of me joining you and your family for the drive down to Le Mans never got up-loaded. I would love to join you and your family. I will make contact nearer the time regarding timing etc ....

Thanks again ...... Cheers, Mike

I am going to Le Mans this year - my first time and really looking forward to it.

Although not formally an official PCGB event, some R20 Le Mans veterans have organised a trip via Lycian events.
I am tagging along with them as:
1. they know what they are doing
2. will provide some fellow PCGB cameraderie (did I spell that right ?)
3. most importantly, a good bunch of lads.

Details are in this thread: http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=668124

Just booked up with Lycian Events. Spoke to with Joy whose got me organised .... so helpful..... Planning on going down on the Thursday Eurotunnel around midday and back on the Monday late pm ...Really looking forward to it .....[:)]
