Le Mans 2014

Does anyone know if there will there be any organised/semi organised trips to Le Mans for 2014 by any of the registers

I was thinking of an organised and catered site such as the Lycian Events camp on the Porsche Curves, which is getting good reviews.
I heard on the grapevine that 25 pitches had been booked with Lycian for next year!

I'm interested but am trying to get Caroline up for it by tempting her with the rest of the week in Samur but she feels she will be a bit like a fish out of water which I can understand. So a bit of work still to do.

I was looking at going with my wife, she quite fancies the idea if not in a tent.
However she wants to be able to drop in and out of the race where she feels like it.
I was looking at an onsite motor home which did seem like an ideal solution for us both, not cheap but a nice experience.

Looks like it will be 2015 now though as the date clashed with next year trip away.

sounds like your wife is linda`s kind of girl gary[:D]

she would love to come with me to le mans but not in a ....t...!!!

My wife came with me to Le Mans 2 years ago, our first time camping, went with Lycian to their Village on the Curves - and she loved it! Not many ladies there so never any queues for the excellent "facilities", excellent food and beer/wine marquee, 2 minutes walk to Porsche Curves viewing bank plus a minibus service to the main entrance etc. Next year we'll be repeating the trip for the Classic!

We did the same as Chris and thought the facilities very good the ladies shower block was always available and as there were very few ladies and the block was always clean.
We had a pre erected tent and would never do anything else now, plenty of space and all done for you.
I have now got 1 son up for it and the other thinking about it so we are getting closer to a yes as Caroline will go if the kids go.

The balance of the week in the Loire is also a bonus wine tasting and a few days to chill [:)]

Dylan, look at the Lycian website, they are already taking "expressions of interest" - I've had my name on the first pitch at the Classic with them for 2 years now!! Email joy - it's joy@lycianevents.com. FYI Lycian is Stephen and Joy Fowell, PCGB Essex region members. If you want more info re their campsite, look on beermountain.com for my review of our visit to the 24 hours 2 years ago.

We have to agree the site facilities are great and Stephen and Joy are very helpful

We did not go this year but last year with the buses to get you around the circuit it just worked.

Watching the racing from the curves at night gives a real feel for the difference in speed and the excitement with lights, glowing brake discs etc is to be recommended.

And of course next year Porsche are back hopefully with a chance of an outright win

Definitely have to go next year, missed this one for the first time in a decade, but the LMP1 entry means it's mandatory. Probably stay with my mates 40kms from the track in a h*tel [:D] Makes for some great drives back and forth the circuit as well as to Saint Saturnin for the 'Great British weekend' and the town for the parade on the Friday, round to the Hotel Arbour on the outside of the track on the Mulsanne for the start and night time racing at Terte Rouge. Plus a few dinners and far too much lager at the hotel. Can't wait.

For many years, the group I go with stayed at the Relais Napoleon in Fye, 10km south of Alencon and en route to Le Mans, but it is now a b&b so doesn't do an evening meal or have a bar. Still a good place to stay though.

thanks peter
i will take a look when Linda and I drive down to route napoleon next month
