In past weeks, some of you have expressed an interest in going to Le Mans as a group. After doing some research we have concluded that the 'Village on the Curves' package offered by Lycian Events seems the most attractive for Region 31 members. The Lycian Events' package comes highly recommended by London Region, who have already booked at least a dozen members for next year, having had an excellent experience last year.
As well as Porsche Club GB, the Village proved extremely popular with Porsche Clubs this year and there were representatives from Porsche Club America, Netherlands, Denmark, Germany and one member from Australia. Lycian Events is the preferred Travel Specialist for 2015 for Le Mans for Porsche Club Great Britain (and also the Porsche Club Netherlands).
The campsite (don't worry, this version of camping is not like Glastonbury on a bad day) is next to the track and is contained within a totally secure fenced site with English speaking security guards and private showers and toilets which are cleaned three times a day and extra cleans carried out as and when required!! The pitches are 7mx5m and enable your car to be parked with the tent. There is also a large Marquee with a bar and bistro style catering which is open from early morning until late into the evening, on race day it is open for 24 hours. Discounted meal packages are on offer but eating on the site is not compulsory and unlike other sites meals can be bought on an adhoc basis without pre-booking. A full range of English Ales as well as French Lager all at prices well below circuit prices are available. There are also three 50" plasma TVs showing the race for the 24 Hours and any other sporting events which occur during the week. Wi-Fi is available at a small additional cost.
Security at the dedicated Porsche site is extremely tight, accessed by security wristbands and stickers on the car. One of the principal reasons Club members prefer this site is that their cars are safe as guards regularly check the site and carry out regular patrols throughout the night.
The unique selling point of the Village on the Curves package is that they operate two free minibuses on a half hour timetable throughout the week with drop of points in the circuit behind the pits and also the tram station. They can also arrange trips to Arnage and Mulsanne (subject to traffic and police directions).

There's also a promotional video on YouTube that's worth looking at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cnktl668MMk
and a Facebook page to keep up to date with all things Le Mans and acts as a two way newsletter. You can join this here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/lemansvillageonthecurves/
Lycian Events are currently taking bookings for 2015 and places are limited. If you are seriously interested in making the trip as part of the R31/PCGB contingent, you will need to let us know ASAP, and certainly before OCTOBER 10th so that we can send a list to Joy at Lycian Events in order for her to organise the bookings. She will then be in touch with details and request a deposit from you.
FYI, whilst prices for 2015 have not yet been finalised, the organisers estimate that they are unlikely to rise by more than £10 -15 per person on this year's prices.
Look forward to hearing from you soon.
Fiona.
