As some of you will know, as well as my passion for all things Porsche, I am also a massive Le Mans and Classic Le Mans fan, having been attending one or the other of these fabulous race events since 2004. I have been lucky enough to take my own Porsche as well as my daughters Jemma and Sophie, where together we were able to witness Porsche’s last LMP1 victory together in 2018.

We were really excited and looking forward to attending the Classic Le Mans 24 this year, together with many of our friends from R5 and the 991 /2 registers. Sadly as you will know, the event has had to be postponed until 2021 due to the dreadful Covid-19 pandemic.

So to cheer me up, Sophie has kindly produced a film of our trip to the 2019 race which I think really captures the spirit of our trip and the 24 hour race. I have attached a link to the film in case some of you might be interested to see it.

I hope that you enjoy the film and I am looking forward to heading to Le Sarthe with some of you for our annual pilgrimage to Joy & Stephen’s fabulous Village on the Curves in 2021.

Have a good weekend and stay safe.

Thank you for your reply PJ63, I’m pleased you enjoyed the film and that it has encouraged you to want to go to Le Mans, you wont be disappointed. However, be warned it is addictive and once you’ve been you will want to go again and again.

I have been fortunate to experience Le Mans in many different ways over the years and whilst I am not the keenest camping enthusiast, I would recommend that the best way to experience Le Mans or the Classic is to stay at the Village on the Curves with Joy and Stephen from Lycian Events.

if you want to attend the main 24 hour event contact Lycian as soon as possible as the best Ferries get booked up quickly.

If you want to attend the Classic which has been moved to next year, we have arranged a trip with Lycian for Region 5, the 991 and 992 registers, you would of course be welcome to join us and please see my previous posts about the event for more information of feel free to send me a direct message or email to: martinghdavis@outlook.com

In the meantime please see the following link to Sophie’s previous video from 2017. Whilst it doesn’t show as much of the racing it does show the spirit and camaraderie of a Le Mans road trip adventure. I hope that you enjoy it too.

Thank you Martin.

I hope that all’s well with you and look forward to catching up with you again soon.

Hi Gerry, I’m glad that you enjoyed the film and that it has encouraged you to want to go. You won’t be disappointed, there might still be time to book for this year’s main 24 hour race or failing that you have plenty of time to book up for next years main race or the Classic.

Yours,

Martin
