Le Mans Classic 2012

A few of us from R3 have been to the classic before and it is a fantastic event, much better than the 24 Heures Du Mans in my opinion. I'm flagging now to gauge interest in a trip next year. Dates are 6th - 9th July but we normally go on the Thursday and come back on the Monday so 5th - 10th.

I'll provide more detail at the club night tonight and also in the monthly newsletter to R3 members. Given the success of our WOTY and other such events this year it would be great to venture into Europe[:)]

Hi Ash, Myself and Chris with the White 911 930 (Metz2000 on the forum) were thinking about making the trip. He'll maybe mention it to you at club night? It would be good to go with a group [:)] Do you know yet what your route would be? To me it seems more interesting to get the ferry from North Sheilds to Amsterdam then head down through Belgium and into France. Most people and the package deals always seem to drive South in the UK and then over to France, missing the excitement! PM if you need! Chris

As I mentioned last night the Silverstone Classic is 19th -22nd July. As a number of R3 members have already expressed an interest in doing the Silverstone Classic again next year July could end up as an expensive month. At the WOTY I was asked how easy organising an F1 trip to Spa would be (31st Aug- 2nd Sept). In the past Deb & I have flown into Dusseldorf, hired a car, then used Select Motor Racing for hotels & circuit transfer. More details on their [link=https://www.selectmotorracing.com/F1_Event/event_belgian.htm]website[/link]. The [link=https://www.selectmotorracing.com/F1_Travel/to_spanish.htm]Spanish Grand Prix[/link] is another option (11th-13th May), rail system is excellent & there's less chance of rain! Tickets also include pit lane entry on the Thursday. One last option (& my favourite!) would be a trip to the Monaco Historic (11th-13th May). It's a chance to experience the thrill of GP racing at Monaco without the F1 price tag. All tickets are 65 Euros for the weekend. Fly into Nice, rail services are excellent into Monaco.[link=https://www.selectmotorracing.com/Historic/H_monaco-Travel.htm] SMR[/link] offer hotel packages in Nice & Monaco. Any takers? Either way, it looks like R3 are headed for Europe in 2012!
