Le Mans prep

So, off to Le Mans tomorrow night and apart from packing the usual hi-viz, light bulbs and triangle, I wanted to switch the lights for left hand drive. I didn't realise that the swiveling lights option meant that this could be done in 'settings' or I would have specced it.

So being a bloke I didn't look at the manual and went to Swindon OPC today instead. Being the first 991 owner to ask the question, I was able to look over the shoulder of the technician. Not quite as simple as in the 997 and it took quite a while (with the dealer manual) to figure out how to change over the bias. Now it's been done once, should be simpler in the future.

So, remove the headlights using the cranked handle in the tool pack. Unplug to unit and remove the covering plate releasing the four screws. Inside there is a white plastic lever to the right of the lamp. This is pulled until a click is heard. Unhelpfully, it doesn't click in the reverse operation. Then cover plate back on and plugged back in. It's very important to locate the head unit back into the guides correctly on refit or it makes a mess of the locating plate with bits breaking in all directions (apparently).

As a precaution, our technician then did a beam test to make sure that all had gone to plan. Big thanks to them for their efforts.

Stupidly, I had no camera with me but will try and remember next week on my return.

Hope to see some of you over the weekend, either at the Friday Parade, Saint Saturnin on Saturday morning, or at the circuit.

Back yesterday but straight off on business but will post up a couple of snaps on my return. Car brilliant - the advantage of staying 40kms outside the circuit is that it gives more opportunities to go for a few runs.

Oh was that you staying in Fresnay-sur-Sarthe? Saw a British red 991 parked up near our hotel on Monday am (looking like you must have cleaned it!). I only stayed there Sunday night, Village on curves during the action. Very friendly people in Fresnay - both the locals and the other hotel guests.

Yes Mark, that was me with some other LM regulars. We try to be friendly [:D] Hope your long trip home was ok.

Couple of pics from Le Mans - not as exciting a race as some years but thoroughly enjoyable nonetheless.

Plenty of interest in the 991 at Saint Saturnin, the traditional 'Great British Welcome' display on the Saturday morning.
