Le Mans - Those left behind

For those of us who can't get to Le Mans, because of other commitments etc., what about getting together at Reading OPC on the Sunday.

Apparently, the forward thinking boys at Reading are doing a Le Mans weekend with live big screen, show cars and stuff. Could be very good.

This way we will get to experience a small part of the atmosphere without having to put our lives on hold for 4 days and subsequently spend the next two weeks de-toxing. Ok, so it will be nothing like the real thing, but should be a damn sight better than not doing anything at all. Who's going to enjoy it the most if it rains? [;)]

4 days? What you talking about John. I'm off for 7 whole big bad fun-packed days of drinking a week tonight. The coolest thing is that I believe there's some sort of motor race going on near where we're camping, so I might get a look at that as well [8D].

As for rain - it's just a way of showering without wasting any party time [:D]

........anyway when it's really wet the ever keen 944 register relax by reading veses from the infamous 'darkside' Haynes Manual

This is the whole idea isn't it ? What could be better than hitting the champagne tent at midday on the Saturday with your mates, spending the next 4 hours swigging Veuve Cliquot, letching at the Hawaiian Tropic girls, firing corks at the other boozing teams, wandering off to see the race, back on the booze and BBQ by 18:00, touring the circuit, more booze, hitting the funfair, more booze, trying to sneak down the side of the Mulsanne, hiding from Les Gendarmes, more booze, Grande Marnier Crepes, more food, more racing..... repeat until you pass out in your tent, get up, do it all again.

I haven't done the champagne tent (more of a beer-wall type of a bloke) but otherwise that sums it up perfectly [;)]

If i wasnt going to 'THE' LM id pay reading a visit, sounds like a good event

Now look guys, what I was after was a little more positive outlook from those of us unfortunates who can't make the big event; not the opportunity for those who are going to gloat.

For those of you going to France - I hope it rains - lots!
