WOW, what a superb time I had at Le Mans....javascript:void(AddText('[8D]'))

Booked through Travel Destinations and stopped off site ( deliberately I hasten to add ) and we had a B&B in a fantastic Chateau, what a view when you turned through those gates. The Turbo was something else, what a great car to tour in! It truly was faultless.

The racing, from what we could see and have subsequently read up on was some of the best in years, maybe not for Audi but hey ho! That's racing for you. Two other things we managed to do which I would certainly recommend, 1) Go to the Great British Welcome north of Le Mans and 2) The on site Museum.

If anyone is interested I have some great pics to share, just ask?javascript:void(AddText('[:D]'))

Any one else out there go? if so what was your experience... Love to hear your comments. ( sorry to all campers but staying off site made it for myself.. the state of some people and wash areas was appauling and the whole event is in your face too much )javascript:void(AddText('[:(]'))

Glad you enjoyed your trip, if this was your first time, now you know what the fuss is about.

Not sure why you thought Audi didn't have a successful time - ok they lost two cars but they WON[:D] No one will remember that Peugeot came 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th in a few years time... a hat trick of wins is impressive, particularly against a French team on a French circuit with a French organising body.

We also slum it in a nice hotel outside the circuit, not too far from Saint Saturnin where you enjoyed the Classic British Welcome event. Leave the camping to those younger and hardier say I.

This year, the creeping 'elf and safety' ethic from the local politicians who dislike the Le Mans 24 hours meant yet more viewing restrictions and barriers further from the track, although it has to be said it was fortunate that no-one was injured when Alan McNish and Mike Rockenfeller both crashed.

Next year try and make the Drivers Parade in the city centre on Friday evening, great atmosphere, amazing cars and cold beers available on the street. Perfect.

Didn't think it felt as busy as in previous years, probably born out by the 250,000 official attendance figure, I'm sure there was 350,000 in previous years.

Let's hope Porsche get their act together and make a return with a serious entry next year.
