Leaking 2,7 liter engine

Hi. I have a leak from all 4 valves covers. My mechanic uses paper seals and loctite. Is there any other solution? Cork, rubber, any other? Please help, I despair!

Have you thought about upgrading to turbo value covers, as the standard ones can warp over time, take one off and place on a flat surface to check.

No worries, I updated my value covers some time ago to the turbo ones, nice weekend job, nothing taxing and nice and rewarding. How ever I think with old engines there will always be little leaks here and there. If there isn't any oil under um there's no oil in em. :)

I'd start by confiming your covers are not warped or corroded and then i would try using a new set of original gaskets. I would definitely not use paper gaskets and loctite !

Has your mechanic used a top grade, fully synthetic, oW50 oil as can be found in an Official Porsche Centre? If so, than it will seep out from everywhere. These 911 engines ran from the factory with 15W50 or 20W50. A semi synth or mineral oil, with a Zn and P content of minimum 1200 ppm, and changed regularly, is compliant with the type of seals and nature of the engine. You will be rewarded with a greatly improved driveway/garage floor.

I am aware that Porsche Classic is now marketing 10W60 oils, .... I'll have to see more use and reports from the frontline before I switch over...

Best regards,

Bert
