Leaking roof - Help please

I would greatly appreciate your help with my leaking car. The carpet behind the drivers seat becomes saturated following heavy rain. It seemed previously that the seal between the rear of the drivers window and the roof had become porous, and so I replaced this a week ago which now gives a good seal. Unfortunately there is still a considerable leak. It seems that the carpet becomes worse after driving the car in the wet. I performed a basic water test with a hosepipe yesterday (neighbours thought I was insane), and I could find no leaks from anywhere around the roof/window seal. All the foam under the carpet around the footwell, mostly on the side and back of the footwell, becomes unbelievably soaked!

I wonder if anyone has any ideas. The drivers door drains seem to work well, but even so I can't imagine how water could get from the door under the carpet? Is there a seal under the car that could have gone? Your thoughts would be appreciated before I have to book it in for what will probably be an expensive fix.

Thanks.

The polyurethane inner door liner (behind the door card) can fail or not be replaced properly. This allows water to run down the window and into the footwells. New ones cost around a tenner each from Porsche as I recall.

Thankyou for the advice. I have taken the door card off and fortunately the inner door liner is intact. Only thing I have noticed is that the rubber door seal on the bottom of the door is very porous & worn and also doesn't seem to seal very well. Would water run from this door into the rear footwell?

Water certainly could run in down there. I would replace all door seals as a matter of course. They are relatively cheap and easy to replace. Most 993s are 10 or more years old now and rubber seals do compress and perish after a life of hard use.

Also, don't forget to dry out the foam carpet underlay, (front and rear) unless you fancy a rusty floorpan !
