Leather re-trim

My 944 S2 is black with black cloth Porsche Logo seats and I feel its a bit gloomy. I really fancy leather but I'm struggling to find a decent secondhand pair, so I was thinking about the possibility of getting the originals re-trimmed in leather. Anyone had this done and is it as expensive as I fear it might be?

I looked into getting my 911 fronts & rears re-trimmed in leather. I had quotes of between £600-£1200 dependant on whether they
were done in full leather or leather faced only.
I decided to keep looking for an original sports interior, as my existing fronts were non-sports. I ended up getting some good ones
towards the lower end of the re-trim price that were electric & sports too.

If I were you I'd keep looking [;)]

Good used sports leather seats go for over £500. Southbound will need about twice that for a set of leather covers for DIY fitting in OE quality leather with OE style perforations. Cheap it ain't.

IIRC, rennbay do a set of vinyl "leather look" covers for reasonable dosh. I do know a guy who did a full leather retrim on my old TR7 seats, door panels, centre console trims, dash trims and rear bulkhead for a very reasonable price (I would say how much it was, but I called in a favour too. needless to say the whole lot was under £500) I could see if he's willing to do a set or two......

Here's a pic of the TR7 jobbie he did......

I chatted to a guy who had Boxter seats in his 944. They fitted fine, it was only sorting out the electrics which had to be adapted. It did look different.

Apparently it's a nightmare getting later 911 (996 vintage) seats in a 968. The 968 is the same as the 944 in the seat mount area as far as I know.

EMC have a guy who can retrim the whole of the interior of a 944 for about 600 quid. He uses top quality leather too. I was sorely tempted to get mine done when they had the car in recently, but on top of all the other things I've spent, I couldn't justify having it done at the time.

It's also a quick job. What they do is give the guy a set of spare seats to cover, and then they just need your car for a few hours to swap them over. It looks stunning too.

Give them a call on 0121 328 2225. Ask for Kevin, and tell him James Hall suggested you give him a ring.
