leather seat wear on 987

Previous comment on this forum relating to wear on driver's seat brought forward response from others experiencing similar wear - new cover fitted early September is now showing just the same wear after only 5 or 6 outings. OPC say there is no problem with the soft ruffled leather seat and suggest entering the car a different way! Tried head, leg and upside down but no difference - difficult driving in this position. £2000 extra for seats unable to sit on! [][]

Has anyone else experienced wear on leather seats?

Slightly off topic, I have not experienced wear on the seats but do have some wear on the arm-rest on the door where my right elbow sometimes finds a comfortable position.

Mine is 997s but presumably same as the Boxster door panel. I noticed some wear after less than 6 months but didn't think much of it. Is this a problem on other cars?

Not good at all if this is the case.

On a different tack - having just borrowed a 987S whilst my 986S was in for service I have to say I found the standard leather seats bloody uncomfortable!

[:(]

Finally got my act together at the weekend and took the car in to see the service guy at OPC for all the warranty work needed. Top of the list was the leather seats, was told they had seen the problem before and even had an example where the bolster collapsed but was easily rectified took a couple of pictures and said they would contact Porsche GB and get back to me. I've the sport seats in sand beige so not even the soft ruffled type, have only done about 1600 miles! I also showed the back of both the seats and roll bar which were badly damaged because if your tall like me and recline the seat there is no auto stop so it rubs on the roll bar scratching both surfaces, again the camera came out and told they would have to contact Porsche GB.

Other faults include

Plastic flaking on ignition key surround
2100 rattle
Roof rattle
Ignition key now unable to switch off interior sensor so when i leave the dog in the car it has to be unlocked

still waiting to here

Leather seat saga still continues - please reply if you have noticed any wear on your leather, particularly 987 or 997 - new style of seat.

[8|] I have a friend with a new 997 and his carpet is wearing through! Oh dear can this be Porsche?
I really fancy a 987 especially as quality is supposed to be improved as well as drivability, but
I could not stand these problems when my 930 build quality has been so high!

When I went to OPC Guildford recently I noticed one of the 987's had a dashboard which looked as if it had loads of air bubbles below the leather on the top surface. It did make me wonder if the 'quality improvements' are only skin deep (if you'll excuse the pun).
On the upside I was impressed by the how tidy the trim is in/around the front boot compared with the 986. I suppose time (& the current 987 owners) will tell if it starts to creak & rattle...

Informed by OPC this week that new seat cover has arrived supplied by Porsche and will be fitted by OPC free of charge as a "goodwill" gesture!

Warranty claims should not be covered by "goodwill" offers - what has happened to the 2 year warranty. Replacement cover fitted in September lasted 6 weeks (only 5 or 6 outings) - totally unsatisfactory.

John - it's somewhat patronising to say the least!
