John Holmes asked me to post this photo of the wear on his new boxster interior [:(]

I'm sure John will explain the rest [;)]

Thanks James for showing the picture of my leather seat.

The car has been inspected by my OPC but have not had much response yet - the car was registered Jan 05, 4k miles to date. The design of the seats has more stitching than previous model where the leather was moulded over the edge of the seat and no wear at all on both my previous boxsters after 3 years use.

The stitching is not faulty so it could be the leather which is too soft to take the wear. The seats are electric & always taken back as far as possible when parking.

Has anyone else noticed wear in the same place?

looks to me like it might be the seat belt rubbing on the soft "ruffled" leather. if you look at the picture above and spot where the seat belt is sitting against the seat.

suggest when you get out the car you unbuckle the seat belt and return it to its holder before you get out of the seat.

I had wear like that on my BM drivers seat. I put it down to getting in and out of the car in the garage. I had the leather changed under warranty, but it did start again afterwards. I blame the narrow garages.

Definitely not seat belt wear - that was our first thought but the seat belt is much lower and doesn't rub the seat at all. I still consider the new design seats to be the possible cause because of the new seat air bag. The old seat is slightly different in design with the leather wrapped round and no ridges evident with stitching as in the new type. The passenger seat has no signs of any wear at all which could mean a fault in the leather. At the moment I have plenty of space of get in and out of the car -

Also I make full use of the electric seats exiting and entering the car but my double garage has only the 987 parked until lst September when a new mini cooper S arrives - guess what colour?[&:][&:][&:]

Call from OPC today - new leather cover ordered for seat but before it can be processed needed to know my credit card number just in case the car was sold or in an accident before the new seat cover fitted - new orders from management - didn't want to have part left on their hands. He was actually embarrassed to ask - I wonder how legal that request - it is a claim under warranty after all? Any comments?

Personally I wonder after taking £40k off you for a new car where is the customer service from such a request.
