After 2 and half years of Rollercoaster ownership of my 996 i have decided to move on. As mush as i love the car, still think it looks incredible and still gives me the buzz when i drive it, the time has come, so moving to the 997 C2S tip next week. Only time will tell if i have made the right choice or not!

I would like to thank all those have given me advice on here espeically Richard 'the great'

Sorry to see you go, Liam, but onwards and upwards!

Just two pieces of advice: Get a decent PPI done, preferably with a borescope exam, and get a lower temperature thermostat fitted.

And enjoy it, of course!

Car is 4 years old, buying from my Father [:)] So history 'fairly' well known [;)] Has gor extended warranty on for another 9 months so hopefully that will help with any problems.

As far as Temp therostat, why would that be required?

Aha! Lifetime warranty from Dad then!

A lower temperature thermostat gets the water circulating earlier, which helps reduce the hot spots around cylinders 5 & 6, which are susceptible to bore scoring due to localised overheating. I got mine from Hartech. It was about £90 inc vat and delivery, so not cheap, but I thought it was good preventative maintenance.

Not too difficult to fit, but bleeding the system afterwards can be a pain. I cheated, and did it at my friend's workshop. Much easier to get at on a car lift.

The kit from Hartech comes with a gasket, by the way.
