Leccy window problem

Over the weekend my passenger window stopped working using either of the switches. The fuse is OK and the drivers side window works fine. I tested the motor and it worked OK when I put 12 volts and an earth to it. I noticed that the plug that the switch connects to has the two blue wires going to the motor, the brown is an earth but nothing at all on the red/white and red/black. On the drivers side, these wires are 12 volts, so it seems Ive lost power to the passenger windows but the fuse is OK!!!!! The other switch on the drivers door that operates the passenger window also has 12 volts on these wires but still wont operate the passenger window.
It might be simply a broken wire but I havnt done anything to the car lately to cause this. Im wondering if I should run a new power supply to these wires?
Sorry about the long post

It could be a dirty switch. IIRC both switches need to be connected for the window to function.

I hear there are some unscrupulous people removing the electric windows in a vein attempt to keep ahead of the competition...

If you look inside the fuse box lid it'll show all the relay and fuse layouts. I've been thinking through your problem and trying to figure it out[8|]

Using the Haynes manual (American) and my drivers manual, there does not appear to be a relay for the windows in the fusebox!(Older dash) What I find very annoying in the Haynes is that the power windows section says" Because of the difficulty involved in gaining access to the window components.............leave to a dealer"

What an informative book[]

Baaaahahahahahhahaha, I bet a dealer wrote it! I'll check mine tonight Rob and get back to ya. I know these things are annoying, i used to bang the door panel in my Golf ti unstick the window motor, ended up breaking it! hehe[:D]

I have been sent a wiring diagram of the windows and it shows a window relay. This is not shown in my owners handbook relay layout[]. Can anyone tell me which relay this is and where it is situated. 1985 944 lux. Many thanks

Hi Rob G

Looking at the Workshop Manual, Vol. 4 Electrics 1, section 90-6, it states for all models post '84 that the relay you want is 'Centre console at bottom left behind trim'

Check this out and you should find it.

Can't check myself yet, still waiting for my S2!! []
