Length of Ownership

Having posted my first message on the forum yesterday (Thanks for your response Mike), I thought I would be adventurous and start a new topic - How long have you owned your 993RS?

It would be interesting to see how many in the register have owned their 993RS since new or nearly new and have kept their car in its original state for future reference.

Having owned my car for around 12 years, it is still in its original specification as it left the factory.

I still have the sales brochures, factory promotional photos, technical sheets, detailed service information pack, all of which were produced by the factory throughout 1995-96, some of which might be of interest to more recent owners. Perhaps Paul H has already given this information to members?

Looking back, it is interesting to note the initial thoughts of Steve Kevlin at PCGB, Derek Bell and Ian Kuah during 1995 of the "new" 993RS and the fact that their views still stand true today, some 15 years on!

Interesting point I think Vintage. Some of the cars out there seem to have a large number of owners.

I have owned my car for 10 years and am the second owner, I knew the guy who bought it new so always enjoyed hearing about him picking it up when new. THe day after he collected it the basement of the dealer where he got the car from (Jebsen in Hong Kong) flooded and a brand new yellow 993RS was written off! It was rebuilt and put back on the road by a Cathay Pacific pilot I was told.

My car is very original too. I did get a new set of wheels a few years ago though.
I also have the sales brochure, it would be great to see the other things you have. Could you scan them and post them on the forum?

Thats an interesting story regarding the Jebsen dealership.

I have quite a few docs from the factory on the 993RS and, of course, the reviews from various people when the first cars were released. Perhaps Paul H could confirm if it would OK for me to put those docs on the forum (that is if I can work out how to do it [:D] ) - it may be that Paul H has already posted the info on the forum?

I wonder if there are any one owner cars out there?

Hello Paul

Hope you and all the family are keeping well.

You may remember me - I slept on the floor of your winnebego [:D] at one of the first organised RS meets at Oulton Park in 2003? One of the first RS events I supported was a trip to Prescott with you in 2000. We had three 993RS's present that day - you've certainly taken the register a long way since then - well done!

I will see how easy it is to scan the docs - don't hold you breath though [8|].

By the way, one of my daugthers visited your Outdoor Centre with her school last year. Having once experienced a ride in your GT2 many years ago I told her not to take any rides with strangers! [:D]

All the best
Richard

Richard,

Was only mid 20's when the 993RS was released, so to me at the time was a million miles away from being affordable. However bought mine from John Probert last September, John had owned the car for 10 years, when I bought the car.
Great to finally own the car I had coveted for 15 years.
I beleive a guy from RList is sending me some pics from what was AFN London back then, at release date of the 993RS of cars awaiting delivery in the showroom.
So we may be able to reunite current owners with the cars in prestine condition at least in pic form back in 1995 2 x are 993 RS and one is in RHD Clubsport.

You have a wonderful collection of cars Simon.

As you say, it will interesting to see the photos from AFN.

Hi All,

They have all arrived, have around 20. So will post up a selection of each cars? How many of the 4 cars will be match with owners???[:D]

Now this should be a proper quiz!!!

Will be up in a couple of days when I get a chance to resize and post.
