Firstly - hope I am not breaking any rules putting this here.. I didnt put in the main for sale section as I believe that this is just for Porsche related stuff.. If I have - apologies up front, not intended, just want to try and offer a PCGB member / visitor a good deal [:)]

I have a Lenovo / IBM T61 Laptop for Sale - spec as follows direct from Lenovo's site:

Product: ThinkPad T61 6466-9MG
Original description: T8100(2.1GHz), 2GB RAM, 160GB 5400rpm HD, 15.4in 1280x800 LCD, Intel X3100, CDRW/DVDRW, Intel 802.11agn wireless, Bluetooth, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure chip, FPR, 6c Li-Ion, WinVista Business 32

I have upgraded it to Windows 7. This is my Dad's old Lenovo that I purchased for him about 18 months ago. Hardly used TBH hence he has given back to me.

I would get £300 - £350+ on eBay for this machine with the spec and windows 7.

Happy for PCGB Member / Vistitor to have it at £220 inc delivery!!!

- cheers

Anthony

Ant,

Interesting ... but I'd caution anyone to be cautious with Lenovo kit.

I have an old IBM X61s, which is now 9 years old and running beautifully. (Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid - moved on from the original XP.) Without a doubt one of the best bits of IT I have ever purchased.

It was so good that 3 years ago I bought a Lenovo X61s2. And paid for a decent spec model as well. Was I excited? Yes! It arrived on Christmas eve (just to make it feel a bit more special) ... and was so disappointed I sent it back two days later for a replacement. And the replacement was every bit as bad as the original.

It seems that their quality control took a nose dive when IBM sold to Lenovo. Which is a shame ...

At my last job my work laptop was an IBM Lenovo T60 and that was great. It ran XP professional and almost restored some of my faith in PC's.

People at work had a lot of problems with hardware failure on earlier ThinkPad model numbers, but the T60 was good. However, i think i was lucky to get a T60 as I heard of multiple hardware problems (disc and dvd drive and board failure) with the T61.

By the way, I am a Mac man,[:D] it is only now at 7 years of age that my Powerbook G4 is starting to give some hardware problems. I would still rather have this over any PC running windows though!

That's the other side of the argument. The Lenovo machines do seem to have a good reputation in the marketplace ... which says something for them, I guess.

All we buy for people at work is Lenovo's and various models at that depending on use.

Still very happy with the Lenovo product - and compair them to Dell, where the build quality is dire, they are still a fantastic machine.

We have many many T61's are R series machines out there for out heavy techies and they are spot on, very little, if any hardware failures.

Interesting. Do you use the X61s or X61t (tablet) model at all? I'd be curious as to whether the X61 is the lemon in an otherwise good line-up.

We have a few X60's and 61's.. Brilliant little machines TBH.. X61's with built in 3g WAN was the massive selling point for us.. Many of our PM's and on the road sales guys have these and no issues... We have removed Vista from them obviously as, quite frankly, its rubbish!! so we eiter run XP or Win 7 ent edition.

Also have a few x200's that kind of superceeded the X6x range - and they really are a nice piece of kit.
Again, no failures to date (*touches wood*)

Yes, I couldn't believe how bad Vista was when i saw it on a few PC's. It is getting a reputation simmilar to the windows "Millenium" edition cock-up! How can Microsoft get it so wrong??

Sold to Tim. Nice to meet u mate. Have fun, any issues just shout, but am sure you will be fine.

Glad it went to a pcgb member and was able to give you guys a good deal,

Cheers
Ant
