After Less than a week Of 944 ownership..I've Taken the car Back... infinite Bodge Jobs and Coverups by the dealer...The Car had a Fulll going over yesterday...! Painted fuel lines and Brake Cables...Bandaged exhaust...+ loads of other things......After Much arguement I was Given my Money Back Less a little for his Advertising and MOT..(How it Ever Passed I've NO Idea!)
I'm off ragley looking for another!

Thats a shame - I know the feeling only too well !
It is so worthwhile to invest in a Pre purchase inspection to save what could be a lot of cash in the long run.
Good luck with your searching.

Glad you were able to hand the car back and get a refund.

If you want a second pair of eyes to look at anything locally anytime then give me shout. I've looked at plenty; Bought a rust bucket S2, broke the rust busket S2 and now driving another S2, after a fair bit of work.[:D]

Thats bad news but at least you got a refund, its worth reading up on the things to look for ie;sill condition, belt change etc etc.then you will find a decent one hopefully.

Hey!!!
Just Bought a Silver 924s..At Ragley.....Drove it Home without Problems the chap was Decent tooo!

Just Bought a Silver 924s..At Ragley

Ooh - the 944 that's been on a diet!

Seriously - the 924s has to be the bargain of the century. Keep monitoring the 924 and 944 forums as you will benefit from both!

As i recall they will sit out too far due to the offset,i new someone with a 924s (someone on the 924 forum owns it now) that had some boxster wheels fitted with the later offset which fitted straight on without the need for spacers.

I wouldnt quote me on the fitment as its just what i was told, you could fit a set of d90's on which i think suit the car !!

Hello
The 924S is nippier than the 944 due in part to a more aerodynamic body shape but it doesn't have that 'presence' on the road that the 944 has with the wheel arches. It also benefits from being a 'wolf in sheep's clothing'. When people tell you it only has an Audi van engine just pop the bonnet and show them that 2.5 litre lump with 'PORSCHE' emblazoned ion it.
As you can see I have one of each but unfortunately not a foot in either camp. (those of you who know me will understand that one!)

Cheers,

Hey , You Know I've had it Less than a Week and It's Been amazing ...Very Quick..And I haven't Seen ONE 924S on the Road!.....But I've Seen Few 944's ...,only one Person Said about theVW/Audi Engine..Obviously I corrected them!
I'm Lovin' It! Zermatt Silver Too, Rare I'm Told?

The normal 924's had the Vw Lt van engine i think. Isnt the 924S slightly restricted in bhp compared to the 944 but i suppose it makes up for it in weight ??

I was Informed the Last 924S was not Limited?
Of Course..This I do Not Know...But...Hey who Cares...Now I can Can step Up up to My 911..(When my Son Gets Old enough Not to Need a Lift!...)..
I'm Liking the Fist week of ownership...(no Bills as yet)

That was my original plan to trade up to a 911 when i could afford it but i liked the 944 so much once i could afford a 911 i ended up buying a 944 turbo and spent the rest on the house instead !!

The '88 924S was same hp as the 944 @ 163 bhp - '86 & '87 models have a lower compression ratio & therefore slightly lower output ~ 150 bhp

163BHP Sounds nothing compared to My previous fiat coupe 20V Turbo (225bhp) But It's Just as much Fun without the turbo problems!

Fit a cone air filter. It doesn't make it any faster but it sounds excellent under load........and a throttle response cam.
