Belts are overdue....

Other than that, and the lack of the rubbing strips (why? [&o]) it looks nice. I'm not sure £2.5K is unreasonable for a dealer to add as a starting margin, given that there's more protection buying from trade.

Does seem cheeky on the face of it, but they are out to make a profit after all. Original seller looks like an enthusiast, could perhaps have got more for it himself?

Seems odd that one would expect more money when advertising in the same place as they purchased. Could well be the car is worth more than the 7.5k it sold for initially but one would think potential buyers willing to pay more would have stepped up the first time.

Maybe the dealer has found some service history to better verify the low mileage, and hence the increased price. If the paperwork does stack up and the mileage is genuine, and if it is indeed in fine fettle, then at the dealer price its still cheap.

It can't have been massively cheap to get it back from Ireland either. Most dealers I know will aim to make more of a profit than that!

It is indeed cheap if it is as good as it looks with history to back things up. Even at that price I would consider it over this car:

I like the look of the car without the rubbing strips. I took them off of mine and I think it looks cleaner without them.

I was just looking at that on PH thinking that I had seen it before...for less.

I think the mods detract a little, but looks to be a decent car on paper.

That's kind of my question/point. [:)]

I would probably like the car without them, but it gets parked at least a couple of times a week in cramped car parks, so they have a function that makes them essential if you actually use the car IMO.

My choice is to do the 40 mile round-trip to Monday badminton in the van, or the 944. I think it'd be a shame to choose the van because I was worried about parking dents: it's why I own the 944 in the first place!

I don't get why you'd make the car less useable, or do something you'd then worry about and restrict when you could use it. The side strips, and the bumper rubber, just add a bit of protection in normal use. Seems sensible to me, as it's one less thing to worry about.

(See new thread, I have bigger things to worry about, lol! [:D])

It was always worth more in England, I think its still too cheap, The well respected / known Premium UK Specialists could ask £15k for it.

I like the car, colour, miles, mod spec, but it has a clatter of emissions pipework (per a pre '88 car) in the n/s area of the bonnet that should not be there on an '89 951....strange.

The penny is dropping on 951's folks...[8|]

need to get the immobiliser's updated or we won't have 'em.

I bet that is part of it. As the new seller mentions previous owners, etc - whereas I don't remember the previous advert mentioning stuff like that. Verified history/mileage will make it worth more for sure.

Agreed - good to see more dealers selling at firmer prices :)

The perception of prices has changed a little. At a local show I had someone admiring my 944. I then heard "you can get a good one of those for £3-4k"... It's funny considering one was sold to be broken at £3.5k!
