LHD headlights for 993 Targa wanted

I am after a pair of LHD headlights for the old girl ready for my impending move to France, can anyone help me please. I know many of you will say I should sell her and get a left hooker when I get down there but I cannot bear to part with her! All suggestions gratefully received.
PS this is my first post so be gentle with me

Hi. Another fellow Targa owner![:)] You don't need to change the headlights. If you remove the headlights there is a switch inside on the rear (see arrow on photo) You change that then they are ready for driving on the wrong side of the road!![:)]

Thanks for this Graham. Will this mod get me through the Control Technique which is the French equivalent of our MOT only every two years. I am planning to re register the car as I am moving down permanently. I thought the mod you mention is suitable for a short spell but that the lights should be changed for a longer term solution. They are Halogen so they are not brilliant whichever way they point! I have been offered some Litronics and seen some Xenons on a German e bay site but I was hoping someone might have a set in the garage they want to sell.

On another note it will be a quicker trip to Le Mans next year, only 3 and a half hours coming North!

Hi. Not sure about getting through the Control Technique. I don't see why not but I don't know what their rules are. Might have to ask someone else. Maurice is the man with the knowledge[:)]. See if he knows

Thanks guys. It does look like Julian and I will be able to come to an arrangement but I very much appreciate the support.

Pete, 175,000 miles and counting. What would you hope to get out of an aircooled flat six realistically? Mine has done 41,000 of which 5000 have been done by me since Christmas including a trip to, but not around, the ring.

Glad to hear an equitable arrangement has been made [:)]

Not sure on the milage, too many variables - mine has had a top end rebuild and pulls like a train. There are 993's with 185,000, 200,000+ etc and various 3.2's and SC's with over 300,000 miles on them. Some have had work done on them, others have not been touched.

I think the intended design life of the engine was 250,000 - I've seen references to this in various articles.

Certainly if you look after them - use good oil, keep to the maintenance schedule etc they are good for a lot of miles. I take mine on the track occasionally, use it for long trips to Le Mans, the Lakes etc and don't really do any stop start driving, so I think that helps.

I think you will be able to enjoy your Targa for a long time [:D]

Pete
