LHD or RHD

have just posted similar on the 964 section. Would you pay the same for a mint LHD car as an average RHD car or would the RHD always be worth more. Thinking of buying a 3.2 or 964 and the LHD cars seem to be better looked after from new. Not saying all RHD cars are average due to us guys keeping them going, but the europeans seem to be better at looking after there cars from new if you know what i mean. Do not mean to cause any offence.

Generally speaking, our continental cousins, particularly in germany do tend to adopt a "money is no object "attitude with their cars.Would you rather drive round in a rusty, neglected RHD or a pristene LHD for the same price? Only the UK puts an horrendous amout of salt on it's roads, choose wisely,if you're comfortable with LHD then you have the better car.Bonus point is the pedal config as LHD is much more comfortable.

LHD Carreras are generally in nicer condition than RHD UK spec. (C16) cars.

There seems to be a trend that 1/ The Europeans spend more money on their cars and 2/ the lesser use of salt on their roads.

As for the pedal box position, the LHD cars are more comfortable to drive.

All my Porsches are LHD - all imported privately.

The quick answer is basically, LHD = better car than RHD for the same money. LHD will always be worth less though than equivilant condition RHD. If your planning on keeping the car this is relevant. Mine's a LHD and it turned out to be a far tidier car than the same priced RHD's I looked at. You know I've never actually driven a RHD car so couldn't comment on the pedal position.

Can't really comment on the more-for-less or resale issues but as far as driving goes, LHD IMO is no issue whatsoever, I can jump from mine to the mini the van and back without a second thought, of course it is pretty narrow, but not much less than an SC/3.2. Having said all that when I'm looking for a 993 I'll be after RHD, just for the price stability.

Agree with all the above. I have a LHD 3.2 and find the benefits are as follows:

1. Condition of car is excellent, this is generally so with imports as they have usually been thoroughly inspected prior to import.
2. Comfort is better with legs straight not offset which mine prefer!
3. Value is excellent, I have a wonderful car to drive for sensible money, but knoiw it will sell for less than a comparable RHD car come that fateful day.
4. With most tracks in this country going clockwise I find LHD beneficial.
5. It's great to go to Europe and use the car.

Cheers

Nigel
