LHD???

Just found this : http://www.lhdporsche.com/

Looks like an official dealer importing LHD cars.

Mega bargains to be had, I quite like the 2004 C4S for less than £50K.

What do you guys think, is buying a LHD car a false economy? Or worth the savings.

No, it looks to me like they are purchasing the cars from OPCs. These could be in Europe or from UK OPCs who have taken them in p/ex and don't want to retail them.

In the UK a lhd car is going to be substantially cheaper than a rhd equivalent (unless it is something extremely special, such as a rare classic or RS model).

However, it does enable someone to acquire a perfectly good car at a lower price than a rhd example. This may not necessarily be a 'bargain' as it may be more difficult to sell, when the time comes.

Well, I get to find out what they're like. Just put a deposit on a LHD 2001 Carrera 2 from them for a little under £31K. Should arrive in less than 2 weeks.

Nik.

I imported our other car (BMW 330dSE) new, from a franchised dealer in Hamburg in 12/2000.
I currently also run a LHD Boxster 2.5 1998 - bought from a US pilot who was heading home and for whom it was not worth paying to take it back due to homologation issues. Very happy with my first Porker.

I am looking at going over to Germany again summer / autumn 2005 to purchase a 2002 on, 996 - which ever model hits me in the face when I get there.

Looks like instead of paying £52k in UK, I get the same package (albeit LHD of course) for £35 - £38k. Also, German cars appear to come with very high specs.

Look at this link for further info.

I appreciate that there are one or two points that the UK purists will not like about this, but as ever, ............ you pays your money and takes your choice. I know what mine will be.
