Guy's,

can anyone tell me if the Lifeshine Glasscoat treatment to paintwork is really good and worth having?
It is available from a well known manufacturer of automotive treatments etc that help you car to glimmer [:)]

many thanks

Russell

In reality the thing it improves most is the profit made by the dealer offering this treatment, over the years there have been so many wonder products, many for paintwork that is protected and guaranteed to shine brighter than the sun for a million years and never needs to be washed or polished again, just a drive will blow all the dirt away because the surface is now so slippery nothing will cling to it - not even teflon.

A tiny bit of what looks like clear liquid, a simple wipe and £300 from you is all that is required.
Many wonder products state they guarantee the shine will be maintained - but if you read the small print you need to have it washed in a particular way, use specific products, have it regulary returned to the supplying dealer for a check up, have a note from your granny and DNA sample, car must be presented between 14.10hrs and 14.15hrs on the second Tuesday bi-monthly - etc etc etc
Of course they dont work.

A gleaming car is damn hard work, no secret, the preparation is the crucial factor and less so the wax you finish with, however, oxidisation, traffic film and general substances in our environment will dull the shine over time - so you need to repeat the hard work, the forces of nature are against you, but we battle on.

Believe me, having spent 30 years as a paint engineer in the OEM automotive industry, I can assure you that if it actually "does what it says on the tin" (sorry) then all manufacturers would use it!

The other problem with paint protectors is if you have a scrape/bingle it is much harder to match the paint as you have to take the paint protector off.
