Light under the rear view mirror?

I really would suggest the FTM approach for such things. There's quite a few things on a modern Porsche that you would never have known about otherwise.
I FTM for you, found the section in the M, scanned the M, edited the scanned pic, posted the pic on photobucket, and then linked the pic to this post - all in under 5 mins...

It's just there for drivers who wear expensive watches. They can hold their wrist under this light when it is dark and stare at their watch.
