Hi
i have brought an accident damaged 994 C4
the damage was slight- new front wing and headlight, new rear bumper, lights and spoiler
shunted at low speeds form the back into another car at the front.
I have now got all the bits- its being put together and should be ready fro the end of January
I have noticed that the light by the key location ifs always on and regularly flattens the battery-
Can anyone tell me what switches this light on and off- i am thinking its a door switch but just thought i would get a bit of info prior to getting the car from the body shop
I also want some new carpets- anyone have any suggestions

Thanks
Adrian

Congrats on getting a C4 [;)]

Not sure I understand which light you mean: "Light by the key location" - do you mean the ignition key? What light? - I don't have one there (wish there was - I can never find the ignition in the dark!). I guess you can't post a picture because car is away in body shop.

Late 993's had a little light by the ignition key switch to allow you to see as you popped the key in at night!

Yes thats the one the little light by the key switch- not sure if all the internal ights also come on they may have been turned off so as not to drain the battery to quick??
i will check though

The light above the ignition keyhole should go on and off with the other internal lights (but doesn't get impacted if you manually turn off your interior lights by depressing one end of the rocking lens). You can easily check the bonnet light by fully depressing the latch when the bonnet is open - it should go off with the latch depressed. Don't forget to unlatch the bonnet again before trying to close it.

Personally I just removed the little lamps from above the ignition keyhole, at the back of the ashtray, under the bootlid as they're superfluous I found. That way, no question of drain on the battery if not switching off correctly. I use the lamp on the key fob to find the keyhole in the dark, light from the display of my mp3 player to find the audio jack in the ashtray compartment (ashtray itself is removed to create a shuttable cubby hole to store the player when linked through the dash to my headunit), and a wind-up rechargeable lamp to see under the bonnet.

All work a treat [:)]
