Lights Out

Hi, I've had an occasional problem with my dipped beam coming on. Turn the switch off and on again and it works ok.
On Friday night I set off home in the dark only to find that when I switched my main beam on my lights went out altogether! Not nice, fortunately I was going slow approaching a junction.
By turning the switch (not the main beam, although I tried that too) on and off a few times I managed to get them working again. When I was home and I tried the main beam again and it did the same thing, off they all went. The Fog lights still seemed to work ok.
Is this a faulty light switch problem or could it be something else?
If it is the switch, why does turning the main beam on, with the stalk, cause the problem.
It is a facelift C2 with Xenon headlights. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Almost certainly the main light switch. They do all sorts of funny things when they fail - the contacts break up inside.

See Min's DIY here: http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=583771

Thanks for your quick reply Richard. I'll order a switch and have a go at another DIY then.
Did I read on here somewhere that you can purchase the same switch from VW for about half the price that Porsche charge? Or shouldn't I ask questions like that here?
Thanks again.

I think you may be confusing it with the ignition switch, which is a Hella part, and readily available elsewhere. I don't think there is an equivalent light switch, but I would love to be corrected.......

Hi Richard, I'm sure you will be correct, I'm easily confused [;)]
Just ordered the switch. Thanks again.
