very difficult to diagnose by e-mail. The only thing that springs to mind is have you checked all the fuses and relays ?

ISTR that the lights up and lights down functions are on two different circuits, its possible you've blown the fuse on the down circuit.

what i notice is when i turn the manual motor in the engine bay the lights go down so the motor is ok

there is a relay on the actual motor itself but i have no idea how to test a relay

Not sure what you mean by light thing, but is this the mod to make the lights work the same as on the earlier models?

If you have removed the connector from the relay box under the steering column then I would check the wiring

i have no idea how to test a relay

Is it a single pole (4 pin relay)

If so you have a 30 and 87 pins and 85 and 86 pins

Apply power to either 85 or 86 and earth the other - it should click - if it does then the relay is switching

When it has switched use a voltmeter and test for continuity across 30 and 87 it should be continuous with no resistance (you will get resistance across 85 and 86 due to the magnetic coil wiring)

30 is the permanent live and 87 is the switched power to the headlight/motor.
