Lightweight Alternator

I am looking to swap out my Alternator with a lightweight version (with higher output ) Has anyone done this recently .

I have decided that the engine requires some work, I want to start by getting the electrical system working at optimum before I plough into changing the rest of the electricals ie ignition system, engine management. Again these with be precursors to mechanical work on the engine.
The reason for a lightweight one, why not try and reduce the weight of the car while I am doing it, there was an article in 911 and porche world where the standard alternator was replaced by one from a company in australia which had an updated solid state coil within the alternator eliminating the coil from the engine bulkhead and also the wiring. also the advantage of modern electonics.
I was wondering was there any companies in the UK that knew of similar products

If you are looking to reduce the weight of the car, then there be about 10 other things to consider prior to a lightweight alternator.

However, it might have a bonus effect of reducing the inertia of the engine, speeding up throttle response, but you can do this with a 964 RS clutch cover.

Hi, I am interested in reducing weight on my early 3.2 carrera. What was that about the cover ? I am interested in a lightweight flywheel if available. Please advise, thankyou.
