Lightweight Bumpers

And old topic I know, but I've done the searches and couldn't find aything recent or relevant, so forgive me......

At the weekend my father-in-law knocked by rear rubber block (not sure of the correct name) on my rear bumper. This pulled the block away from the bumper (due to corrosion/stretching the fixing bolt?) Coupled with the small bubbles of rust already present I have decided this is justification enough to replace the front and rear bumpers with lightweight items.

I like the RUF CTR look, and to some extent the C2/C4 look, but my main aim is to achieve a lighter car.

Can anyone recomment a lightweight, GRP/Fibreglass/ABS bumper for the 3.2?
Maybe someone has found a lightweight 3.2 impact bumper look-a-like?
Don't the Hillclimb/sprint people have ideas?

I have found "Betterbodies" and "TRE Motorsports" in the US, but surely someone in Europe must make the parts? Maybe there is a new source in the UK?

Any helpful comments appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi Simon,
I know someone who can do some very good carbon fibre front and rear bumpers.
He can also do doors in the same materail as well.
He stongly recommends that he fits and paints the parts for you to get the correct fit and finish.
They can even be painted to hide the carbon weave.

The weights aving just doing the bumpers will be around 30kgs.

I am having done to my car very soon so if you need the contact details please let me know.

Kind regrads Ian

These are nice, I've thought about changing mine more than once. The only place I've seen similar bumpers is Van Zweeden....carriage might still be steep from Holland though!

I saw a 3.2 recently with a few carbon panels, both the bumpers were carbon in the original pattern,,they really looked superb with some of the weave visible at certain angles.

These carbon fibre parts replace just the large heavy aluminium pressed bumpers and NOT the lower front and rear steel parts.
