Hi all,

I am having engine work (350 BHP conversion by Ninemeister) undertaken on my 993 in the new year, as part of this work I am considering fitting a LSD, I spend 60% of my time on the track.

My car is a 1995 NVR with suspension upgrades - PSS9's RS a/r bars etc.

I have the offer of a 2nd hand LSD from a 964 40K miles, but am worried it will be worn out, the other option is the group buy that has just been announced on Rennlist http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/showthread.php?t=244842
for a Guards unit which seems the best bet.

Two questions:

1) Should I go for a LSD
2) If yes should I go for the group buy Guards unit

Many thanks

John

If you are entrusting your development work, to the great guys at Ninemeister, why do you not seek their wise counsel on this one?

If they can't help, I don't know who can!

Best Christmas wishes,

Alan

Thanks Alan,

Have already had words of wisdom from the sage aka Colin Belton, just interested in second opinion, I like to be an intelligent customer!

Have a great xmas break

For what it's worth, although I don't blame you for wanting to be an intelligent customer, look for no more explanation than Colin can give! A bit of debate and opinion is always a good thing, but the problem is there are really very few people out there with his expertise and ability. Having talked at a reasonable length with him, Colin is an Engineer through and through and as everyone I have ever spoken to about him has said, he's an totally genuine bloke. By the way I'm not on a retainer, although I do have to admit I'm looking at having similar work carried out by him on my 993, so I'd be really interested to know how you go on - you lucky bloke you....[:D]

Regards

Maurice, thanks for the advice - you are very perceptive! [;)]

Oliver, I will let you know how I get on and post the dyno results, interesting to see what happens on a non varioram engine with the billet heads - not sure I am lucky just poor, should have pulled the trigger on the RS many mods ago - Oh well I keep telling myself that half the fun is in the mods!

John,

the saving grace is that I still won't be able to drive!!!! I will need some John Bussell input and then i may be able to catch you, you didn't have too much trouble with the GT3's last time we were there!

Have a happy new year

John
