Limited Slip Diff

Hi All

Contemplating a new Boxster S and i'm wondering if the Limited Slip diff is a requirement.

Basically I wanted one with LSD but there is one with perfect (minus LSD) spec available at a good price.

Anyone got any real world experience of the difference the LSD makes? (Current car is 58 S manual)

BTW Probably won't be taken on the track but will be my daily drive (c. 60 miles on country roads daily)

Thanks Jon

How often do you get the tail out ? How often do you feel the inside wheel slipping away power that you want ? If the answer to both is very rarely or never, then why bother ? The typical Boxster purchaser would probably not pay extra for a car with one fitted ... and if you aren't going to make use of it ?

And when the tail does come out it comes back in just as quick,If not just hold it out ,on the right roads of course.

They never had them as an opton until the latest Boxster came out. No one really complained that it was missing, apart from the few that were convinced they had to have everything...[:D]

Agreed, the only other thing is that holding it there is easier with an LSD. And, better on a track [;)][;)]

Some suggestion on other forums that the LSD design has consumable parts , ie if you use it regularly on track and reap the benefits it will need regular rebuilds.
