Hi. I am moving to Portugal and I changed the lights to LHD via the o and t switch but it failed their MOT test. The Porshe dealer now tells me that I need to buy new units for a permenant conversion for driving in Europe. Does anyone know if this is true? I though it was just a matter of adjustment. Many thanks.

Litronic headlight permenant conversion to LHD

I think the 'T' Touring setting just removes the angled-up bit to the left of the beam - it doesn't reverse the pattern. I suspect the dealer is correct, and you will need the right-hand traffic units.
I think you are right, the T setting just removes the current left angle from what I can tell. I just hope that it is just a small section of the light assembly that needs to change and they dont try and sell me the whole thing!. I will post the details when I get them for anyone else thats interested.
Unfortunately, you can't buy the lenses or reflectors separately - you will have to get the whole unit. You might try one of the breakers, like Porsch-Apart. I would have thought that (if you can find them) a pair of LHD lights would be cheaper in the UK than in a LHD country.
Update. I couldn't source any LHD units in the UK but eventually found some on the German ebay site. Expensive but not so eye watering as the 3200 euros for two new units! I also had to switch sides for the rear fog light. I achieved this by connecting both sides with a single hidden wire so they both now work and this is an allowable and cost-free solution - and probably safer anyway. All I have to do now is sell my perfect pair of UK bi xenons! (2004 996 C4S, Turbo etc).
I understand the reason there is one fog light is so that the brake lights (or at least one of them!) are not "hidden" in the light from the fog light. You might want to consider removing the extra bulb.ORIGINAL: Keith ... I also had to switch sides for the rear fog light.
