Litronics: side light out

Hi all (and most probably Richard!),

I have Litronics but the passenger side light has stopped working. The main beams are fine.

Is this an easy fix? Is it just a regular bulb?

The car is going to the dealer today for brakes but i dont want to pay him about £100 (cynical guess !) to swap a £3 bulb.....

Have never looked at the head lights before......

Hope you don't mind me answering...

The bulb is a H6W sidebulb. It is NOT the same as most sidebulbs, it is actually a halogen bulb. The locating pins are not 180 degrees apart around the body, but are offset, so standard bulbs will not fit.
They cost about £5 each, but finding them can be difficult - My Halfords did not have any in when I needed one.

They are VERY EASY to fit. All the info is in the Owners Handbook. Honest.

The only thing I have found is that on the drivers side, it is easy for the litronic loom to fall forwards obstructing the connector when you slide the headlamp back in to the housing/wing. So hold it out of the way with a wooden rule or similar until the headlight pod is almost in position,
If the loom falls forward then it stops the connector mating correctly, and the bulb affected tends to be - you've guessed it - the sidelight bulb!

Of course i dont mind, it just seems like Richard H is amazingly fast and a total authority on most technical issues!!

Will buy the bulb form OPC and do it myself !

I thought the sidelight bulbs in Litronics were H6W. Mine were anyway. Both went regularly, so I bought a pair of Philips Blue Vision ones which better matched the Litronics in colour and seemed to last longer.

I even looked it up to check and got it wrong! [8|]
