Hi there,

i wonder if you help. I've just been to see a beautiful 2008 997 turbo cab with 36.000 miles on the clock with full OPC sh. It's a private sale, but the chap has always had the Porshce warranty which he can pass onto me. Like I said the car is stunning and he took me out and it was amazing!

He did tell me that now and again there is a little puff of smoke from the exhausts when starting from cold. He's been told by the porsche technicians that this can happen if you've given the car a little blast sometimes and turned the engine off too quickly. He was just being brutally honest.

sounds good to me' what do you think?

Also the warranty is being transferred to me, so no worries really.

kind regards

Jamie

It's very common on the flat six engines to get a little puff of blue smoke of start up. Some do it always, some occasionally and some never! Unless it's white smoke or carries on after the initial start, I wouldn't worry. And, as you say, with a Porsche extended warranty you're covered in the worst case anyway. Is it a manual or tip? Either way - have fun!
BTW, you would be better putting this in the 997 forum rather than NW. I can move it if you wish?
