Live supply under bonnet

I'm going to fit a bi-xenon HID kit to my 944 tomorrow (assuming I get it [:)]) and fathoming out the instructions it suggests that the feed to the relays is connected (via fuse) to the battery - all very well aside from the fact that the battery is in the boot.

Anyone know where I can pick up a permanent +12v feed under the bonnet? Probably about 25A?

I don't understand Rich. The starter, as well as being inaccessible from the top of the car, would only have +12v supplied to it whilst cranking the engine, not all the time? Or is it a switched earth?

There must be a main +12v cable running into the engine bay directly into the fuse box. You could tap into it in before the cable runs into the fuse box.

I see your point but in my mind is more accessible than getting to a feed at the fusebox or access to the back of the alternator - cant think where else you might get 25A. Yes it is a case of getting under the car, there is a supply direct to the solenoid (on top of the starter) which is permanently live. All you would need is a 13mm spanner, then connect your cable with crimped connector obviously having an in-line fuse 10mins max.

I would tend to pick up an ignition circuit rather than a permanently live one so as to avoid any possibility of a battery drain when parked up.

There wont be any drain as the lights are switched via relays - controlled from ignition/lighting circuit. The problem is where to find a switched 25A.

All sorted. If you lift the fuse box out there are two main feeds (under fuses 1 & 2) direct from the battery. Picked up from there via an in-line fuse.

Hi Xenon

If you have any pics and details of fitting the HID kit would love to hear from your experience as I would like to fit these but was initially put off by the thought of having to get a feed to the battery.

What connection did you use to connect to the fuse box with a fuse?

Thanks

Lee
