lLost radio code .

Try contacting the supplying Porsche Centre.

When I bought mine they took details of all the code items on the car - locking wheelnuts, radio etc...

Drop me an email with the last 4 digits of the serial number and I'll try my decoder for you.

From Renntech.org:

How to get your radio serial number?

CR-22/CDR-22:
Hold down the TP button for at least 10 seconds after you turn the radio on. "Becker 1" will be displayed. Rotate the right knob (slowly) and it will display the Becker model number. Then rotate it again and the serial number should be displayed on the radio.
Or, if the radio is out of the car the then the serial number is on the label.

CR-21:
Press tone, then 8 and 0 simultaneously. "Becker" appears. Press station up arrow on right. "PR-VERS" appears. Press one of numbered buttons below display, directly below the LCD arrowheads (try a few). The model number will appear. Press station up arrow on right. "SERIAL N" will appear. Press the numbered button again. The serial number will appear.
Or, if the radio is out of the car the then the serial number is on the label.

Jim

I tried replying to your email but got a rejection message. Perhaps your account settings are out of date?

Note that Jim has a CDR23. Anyway, here's my reply:

I guess you must have the "PROTECT" message.

Unlike the CDR22 and CDR22, the CDR23 doesn't have a user-entry security code. The stereo is electronically matched to the car's ECU, and the stereo and ECU match codes each time you switch it on (see the CDR23 manual). Theoretically, it should not lose this matching process when you disconnect the battery, but for some reason yours has. The problem now is that the stereo needs rematching with the ECU. In order to do this, you need to go to Porsche and get them to re-enter the codes. Porsche store the codes for all cars on a system they call IPAS, and it is a hassle for anyone else to get them.

The alternative is to have the coding removed from the unit, which can be done. http://ice.dndservices.co.uk/shop_show_item.php/MID/68/IID/476/PAGE/shop_decode_index.php. However, it is probably wortf finding out what Porsche charge to recode it first, as it will be a lot less trouble than taking out the radio and sending it off.

Hope this helps,
Richard
