Hi, I have a 91 944S2 Cab and washers have decided to pack up!. Checked for blockages and clear back to reservoir so need to check the pump! Can find the Headlight washer pump which is working fine but cannot find the Windscreen washer pump! Have workshop manual on the way but would like to get this fixed before it starts raining!

Thanks in anticipation

Thanks Tim, not sure how the Headlight ones are working then but Windscreen ones not. I thought from reading other forum posts that there were 2 separate pumps on those with Headlight washers fitted! If there is only one then I need to understand what makes up the system how the system works and where all the bits are in order to track down where the problem is. How does is it work between headlight and screen with only one pump?

There is a seperate pump for the headlamp wash, both are located on the resevoir. You can see one below the headlamp when looking in the engine bay - I can't remember if this is screen or lamps though, the other one is lower down. The usual culprit for failed washers are the little 1 way valves in the hose, clipped to the bonnet (plastic elbows). try operating the washers with these disconnected.

Thanks, I assumed there would be. I have tried the 1 way valves ( I think)did this by disconnecting pipe before the tee piece before it splits off to each side, and no water pumping up the pipe to the washers at all, but can blow back down the main pipe and get bubbles in the reservoir, can also blow air through to jets themselves so assume it is the pump itself not working. Do I need to dismantle Washer reservoir and everything to get to the bottom pump or is it accessible from the underside?

One is in front of the reservoir (think this is headlights) the other is on the side of the reservoir towards the engine. Pain to get to, if you pull the lift motor off the headlights you can get to it.

Hmmm of course there can't only be one pump, otherwise headlamps would be soaked for every spraying on the windscreen, which doesn't make sense...I'll get my coat [8|]
