Loch Lomond Restaurants

Not directly Porsche related but I'm having a w/e away with the Mrs in Loch Lomond area (Cameron House) in mid december (15th - 17th).

Can anyone recommend a couple of good restaurants - we'd rather avoid being the one couple at an office Christmas party issue. Not into stuffy places - somewhere with good food, good service, and good atmosphere.

Thanks

Roy

The Restaurant down at The Marina (5 minutes walk from Cameron House ) is nice and informal. Also google for 'Lodge on Loch Lomond'....about 5 minutes drive from CH. Now that's a special place![;)]

There is a McD at Loch Lomond shores [:D]...there are a few restaurants up that road I have been toColquhoun Arms Hotel in Luss no frills good fare at resonable prices ,sorry I cannot be more helpfull.

Ali beat me to it try Google

Done a Google search but there's actually little information there. The lodge is doing a 'Christmas special' - their e-mail says "We have a party night on in our restaurant so you would be a part of that" which doesn't sound that encouraging for a romantic w/e!

Thanks

Roy

There's a small simple restaurant in Balloch good honest home cooking & family friendly if thats what you are looking for. Corries IIRC its just over river on right hand side ate there a few times

cameron house restaurant, and not the bar food next to the pool is the best food service you will get,,,, luss/lodge on the loch/inverberg and duck bay are all a little bit burger or chicken in a basket !,,,, with chips !,, and Cam house probably wont be doing a party night in the restaurant !

although duck bay used to have a seperate restaurant - did a decent a la carte, but wasnt on the last time i was there,,,,, just the bar food

enjoy
scottie.

Thanks for the replies.

Nothing wrong with Cameron House (except I can't find a menu / cost) but we're probably there 2 nights so want something different for at least one of them.

La Scarpetta, an Italian restaurant in Balloch does great starters and main courses but puds are not their thing.

The upstairs Cameron House restaurant (not the Michelin starred Georgian room) costs from around £35 a head plus wine.

have stayed at CH several times and the choice of food there is superb. one evening we walked down the the merina resturant in the grounds of the hotel towards the lake/ lodges its was (this is 3 years ago now) Italian themed but does everything and the staff were very welcoming.. Take a torch for the walk back though as the lights olong the drive arn't bright anough especially for us ladies in high heels.

Thanks all - looks like we'll do one of the 'lesser' restaurants on Friday and splash out on the Georgian room on Saturday
