Locked keys in the boot

[8|] Hi All

I am doing some repairs on my S2 cab and I have locked the only set of key in the boot [&:] The battery is flat, I have tried putting 12 v throughj the ciggy lighnter to use the internal button but it doesnt work. The rear seat tops fold down but the release is inside the boot. Any good ideas on how to retreive them preferably without damage?

If you have electric boot release there is a charging stud behind the scuttle on the left hand side under the bonnet (usually under a blue screw off cap by the left hand side of heater blower intake) for exactly this reason mate. Don't worry you are not the first [:D]
 
Cheers for the reply I have tried the charging stud but it looks like the internal button doesn,t worl (Another job for the list) Any other sugestions? Is driilling out the lock my best way forward?

Mick if you can get into the cabin of the car surely you can squeeze into the boot to get your keys????? Does you back seat drop? I think it should.
 
You could call the local Porsche dealer and see if they can make you a key with the VIN number... or you could remove the door lock barrel and take it to a locksmith, who should be able to make a key for it... Drilling sounds a bit extreme yet. You could also try leaving a battery charger on the charging stud for a few hours, as the dead battery may be sucking up all the current on offer.

I dont understand why you cant reach the keys? I am 6' 3" tall and I weigh well over sixteen stones and I can easliy reach into the battery well / spare wheel well on a late car (and Im sure of this because I did this only the other evening).

He's got an S2 Cab. The boot setup is different to other models.
 
Thank you - its funny how prominent it seems in the original post now. [:D] If its a one key car then try your OPC first: whether they can come up with a key quickly enough is another matter of course. Failing that then I take out the passenger door handle / lock; as someone has already suggested.

could be the button itsself? id try taking the button off and shorting the contacts if its just a dodgy switch, perhaps have someone listen at the boot to hear if the catch is moving at all... given the ease people break into cars id be surprised if theres no way you can get it out without destroying the lock.

I have a 91 S2 and the boot release works without the ignition being on. I remember from another Porsche forum a 928 owner had a key made from eBay for £28 (I think) and this was done from the vehicle VIN and if I remember right was despatched very quickly.

That's why I suggest people are careful about who they give their car details to! The Club hold this sort of info, but under incredibly strict data protection control.
 
Thanks for the replies guys managed to get one of the seats down with a bit of rattling then reached in and got the second seat down. Still not as lot of room but it has an over carpet that I pulled into the cab and hey presto there were the keys. Button doesnt work with the ignition on either. Good point about my profile I will fill it in today.

I can remember when all adverts in Porsche Post had to include the VIN! [:D]
