Locking Mechanisms

Hi. I get a double beep on the horn when I lock the car. The car locks ok, I just get the rather annoying beep as well. Addspeed ran a diagnostic and said there is an intermittent fault on the passenger door lock. Anyone have any ideas on fixing this, DIY or otherwise?

Also, I had a check engine light that appeared and went. Addspeed indicated that a catalyst sensor showed up on the diagnostic. Any thoughts on this also?

A double-beep indicates a permanent fault in the alarm system. If the door lock switch assemby has been diagnosed as the problem then it will need to be changed. You can't replace the offending microswitch within the assembly. I seem to recall the driver's side assembly cost me about £125, plus fitting. You have to remove the door lining. Fairly straightforward-ish. If you want to have a go yourself, I could email you the instructions.

The lambda sensors are a fairly common fault - about £65 plus fitting. A relatively easy DIY, if you know which one it is. Again, I could dig out the instructions.
 
Thanks Richard. I'll probably go back to Addspeed and compare their prices. I'm not into car DIY if I can help it!
