Locking wheel bolt key on Cayman R broken

Hi Andy Sorry to hear about that, but That's not good. I also get the dealer to sort out my tyres for me so never needed to use my locking wheel bolt key. Let us know how you get on.

The older Cayman (and general 987's) are 130Nm but the R, or 987's vehicles with the black wheel bolts are 160Nm.

Has anyone else broken the locking wheel bolt key on a Cayman R. The Torque settings are higher than the standard Cayman and I don't think the keys can take it [:(]

So, only a relatively small increase in torque over the standard 130Nm then. I would have thought that the design safety factor on the key would have been sufficient to allow a 23% over-torque. Sounds as though your's is faulty - worth contacting your PC complaining that it's failed and requesting a replacement under warranty. Jeff

It is a common problem, even using them on standard bolts at 130 Nm. Easy enough to get a replacement at a Porsche centre, which all have master sets they use to match up the correct one for your car. Darned inconvenient when it happens though.

I have always run mine at 95 Ft Lbs without any problem ... The only time my wheels come loose is when wheels have been refurbished with the hub surfaces also powder coated ...
