Locking wheel nuts - help!

Guest

New member
Now I've really done it, broke the socket for the locking wheel nuts (993 Cup 2).

I cannot find the code in the car for the type of wheel nut I've got.

I've tried a 22mm socket (multi-spline) but it seems to be slightly too big for the recess and is marking the alloy as I hammer it on.

Anybody got any ideas?

Suggest you phone local OPC with Chassis no. and they may have central record of the nut code.

This happened on a Merc I had and they had a neat sectioned wooden box full of nuts and tried each one until they found it. Then ordered one for me and it costs a few bob!!

Yes, definitely go to your OPC. I went to Hatfield OPC and asked. The guy had a similar wooden box full of different locking sockets and went through nearly the whole box before we found the one for my wheels, which he kindly gave me - Thank You, I said.

Well worth a visit![:D]

Same as above,i took mine to my local opc at Hatfield,he had a box full of them and after finding the correct one he very kindly gave me his to take[:)].I think they are about £20.

P.S. Hammer it on? [&:] Don't do it any more - go to the OPC[;)]

Thanks guys, picking up 2 copies tomorrow made in a local engineering shop, cut by laser etc so they should fit.

Thereafter, will have to try the OPC if they don't work.

I had the same problem. The tool broke when i was trying to remove the rear wheels to adjust the handbrake. tried having it welded but it broke again. I had to drill the stud out in the end before I could go anywhere. I then went to Reading OPC where they had a box of locking Wheel Nut tools. I then bought a new set which were fitted free.
