Lockton Car Insurance

Hi Guy's, filled in all the paperwork to ask for a quote with Locktons two days ago, tried phoning the number (0845 602 9420) in the Porsche Post but no answer is this normal ?

Finally got a quote from Lockton's, I don't believe there very competitive as they quoted me £1100 and I only do approx. 5k a year with no track days or need any breakdown/Europe cover but they said that was included anyway. The policy seems very good which will cover the full value of the car and use a repairer of your choice and use only Porsche parts, but its a lot of money so will keep looking.

Yep, that's what many of us find with contemporary 911's.
I request a quote annually and we've got to the sniggering stage now! [;)]

Clive

Try Marsh Premier Solutions (usually with Aviva) ... 0345 600 6502.

Lockton quoted me £1100, Marsh were < £300 for my Cayman R ... Lockton appear to not want cars that are driven.

I know it's a well worn thread but I still find it annoying that the club persist with an insurer that appears to provide such a lack of value to the majority of its members.
Sould the phrase on the web site 'offers highly competitive policies' be reworded to include the phrase 'to a select few members' ?

Is Marsh taking on Porsche Insurance once again?
They were declining to quote for new business a few weeks ago, saying they were no longer involved in Porsche Insurance and the business had been transferred to Carbon. [8|]

Not Porsche Insurance as it was ... a totally separate policy brokered with Aviva.
Almost identical cover to my last Porsche Insurance scheme policy with them (and Aviva), beat my renewal offer from Carbon. Still has the two trackday cover.

Carbon using Aviva had deleted the two trackdays, increased several excesses / thresholds and were more expensive ... wonder why they were given the business ?

I also tried Mannings and Classic Line, both were significantly more expensive than Marsh and Carbon but did include items that I did not require.

Excellent info. Thanks for the update. [:)]
Marsh have been in the forefront of competitive Porsche motor insurance for many years and it's good know they're back in the market.

I've moved my insurance cover away from Lockton this year, much to my reluctance, however Chubb (who the Lockton policy is through) have changed their policy so that you cannot acrue no claims bonus plus they will not recognise any ncb that you have built up.

Although their policy is excellent & one that I had full confidence in, I could not run the risk of potentially losing 9 years ncb that I had built up on a second car (Porsche) if I were unfortunate to have a fault accident.

I paid extra & moved it to Mannings - who recognise & protect my 9 years ncb.

I insure with Chubb through Lockton.

The annual premium for the policy is calculated based on an upfront fixed amount plus a flat rate calculated on value of cars (not all of which have to be Porsche). To that extent ncb is not relevant and you neither accrue it nor lose it. You can add cars during the year with no additional premium payable. (No deductions for sales mind you). PCGB track days included for all Porsches. Agreed value without quibble.

Lockton have written to say that as and when I move my insurance they will provide confirmation of ncb. Whether or not that will be worth anything remains to be seen but in the days of mirrored ncb the whole issue can be clouded in mystery and confusion anyway.

Since being with Lockton on their Chubb policy I have been involved in two no fault accidents both in Switzerland. On each occasion the claims handlers were excellent and all costs were recovered from the other party and my flat rate % remained unaffected.

It may not apply in all circumstances but a Lockton insurance policy can be very cost effective.

As unfortunate as it is you've had to make a claim it's good to know you've had such a positive experience with Locktons/Chubb. When getting a quote for my 997.2 turbo cab they were more expensive than other insurers, but I was so impressed with the policy and their professionalism that I decided to go with them. Besides, I've had such bad experiences with the normal high street insurers following claims on my family workhorse it seemed mad not to. I also love the fact I don't have to waste time going through a wretched automated phone system before I get to speak to a human.

I hope I never have to make a claim but being insured with a company that I know will cover me for the full market value of the car gives me such a sense of comfort.

I may try try some of the other prestige insurers next year as Locktons were expensive (approximately £900 per annum, although that is for central London) but I'm happy to fork out for now.

Simon.
