London Millionaire boy racers

I was in Abu Dhabi during Ramadan in 2009 and my host had his driver collect us in his Bentley to join him at an Iftar party. He drove us back to our hotel in his mate's brand new AMG ML SUV (to try it out of course), he managed to get up to 220kph on the Corniche - crazy people with lots of toys.

Driving around town in the summer, especially around Harrods becomes a veritable who's who of the world's greatest supercars. I remember one evening this summer parked in that area, over a period of 10 minutes, I must have seen 2 Veyrons, 8 Lambos, a few SLRs and SLSs a Koenigsegg countless Maybachs and Ferraris. I didn't even bother to count the number of Porsches. Many of them with very loud exhausts, flooring it between lights.

I do feel sorry for the neighbours, but it really is an amazing spectacle.

Sounds like a Morris 1000 convertible would have got noticed more![;)]

Excellent Programme but you think the person with that special Porsche would have bought a Carrera GT instead of the Lambo & the X Bow maybe he would have been better getting an Boxster Spyder & got it tuned by Techart or Gambella or any other company who soup up Porsche Cars.[:)]

CGT? That would mean pushing this weird stick thingy around to change gears and using your left foot to do something related to the stick thing! [8D]

Yes that right but I didn't look close at the Porsche with red bit he was driving was a Auto or a Manual but the X Bow was a Manual as Auto is not an option that I know of so a Carrera GT tuned by Gambella would suit hime fine.

These are just my veiws, yours sincerely Kevin.

An interesting program I thought - they all lack taste when it comes to colour choice. Whilst I have some sympathy for the residents, they didn't talk to any of the drivers directly. Maybe they should have attempted to at least discuss the issue instead of having committee meetings to whine about it.

Two weeks of the year and the money they bring to the UK economy has to be considered I'm sure. Was it just me or did the man who was shouting at the various pedestrians just stand in the way of them the whole time?

I do like the Aventador, what an event.

I could see it from both sides.. however one side seemed to care less about the others!!
Nimbies [;)]

I may have been easier to watch with the colour turned down!! [:D]

What a nasty bunch of racist duffers. I lost count of how many times they went all dewey-eyed over the loss of the empire, and how awful it is that the area around Knightsbridge is now full of Johnny-foreigners for a few weeks a year. Who was it who owned Harrods until recently? [8|]

I wonder if they note every emergency vehicle that drives past their time-warp apartments all day and night, sirens blaring? Far more disturbing than all those revving race-cars. And let's face it, most of them are only doing 0-30 anyway, albeit quite fast. Most of the silly driving was posed, it's a lot different when the cameras aren't on! You have to love the kids blowing their family money on fun, before they are off to an arranged marriage. Good luck to them.

I love multicultural London, we spotted this recently outside Harrods. I laughed out loud at the England flags on the roof, and I bet Lord Fumbletrousers and Lady Petunia would have keeled over if they saw it. [:D]
